Palace of Culture and Science is one of the highest and most recognizable building in Warsaw can be seen from almost every part of the capital. Where did it come from? It was opened in 1955 on the initiative of Joseph Stalin as a “gift of the Soviet people for the Poles”. Built by Russian workers, for a long time, it was a symbol of socialist power and the pride of People’s Poland – it was where conventions of the Polish United Workers’ Party took place. Since its very beginning, its monumental interiors have hosted numerous concerts, exhibitions, fairs and shows. Currently, the palace is home to theatres, a cinema, museums, trendy pubs.

DAY 1: GDAŃSK
In the morning we will explore Gdańsk you see the highlights of the Old Town with its famous historic gates – a fragment of the city’s fortifications and one of its main gates. Just behind we pass by a baked–brick construction consisting of the Prison Tower and Torture House – relicts of the Gothic walls from the 15th century. The Golden Gate, situated next the Prison Tower, open onto Long Market – a magnificent street, with Patrician mansions decorated with late Renaissance Baroque facades. Next you can see the Main Town Hall, with a life – size gilded figure of King Sigismund Augustus on top. Beyond the main Town Hall, you admire the Artus Court – a building used for Hanseatic League meetings. Just behind rises the tower of the St. Mary Basilica, then you pass by Mariacka Street, with its gabled terraced houses and expensive boutiques, leading to the Long Wharf on the Motława river.
After lunch in a local restaurant we will visit the European Solidarity Centre — a state-of-the-art cultural institution that honors Poland’s greatest civic success. The museum commemorates the ‘Solidarity revolution’- the mass workers’ movement led by Lech Wałęsa which played a crucial role in the dismantling of the Soviet bloc in 1989 and the fall of communism in Europe. The center is also an educational, research and academic center, housing archives, a library and multimedia facilities. Dinner and overnight in Gdańsk.

DAY 2: GDAŃSK – MALBORK – GDYNIA – SOPOT
In the morning we will continue our trip and travel to Malbork. We will visit the one of the best preserved medieval castles in Europe – the Castle of the Teutonic Order. The magnificent castle is located on the bank of the Nogat River. Protected with draw-bridges, moats and mounds, the complex consists of 3 parts: the Lower, Middle and High Castles. Note the remarkable and original palm vaulting in the Knight’s Hall. Lunch in Castle’s restaurant.
Afternoon visit to Gdynia, with its sea port and historic ships adopted for museums. Today, Gdynia plays as the Baltic gateway to Poland. Next, drive to Sopot for a stroll along the picturesque sea pier, the longest one in Europe. Sopot is one of the most famous and most popular Polish sea-side resorts. Dinner at a local restaurant. Overnight in Gdańsk.

DAY 3: GDAŃSK –TORUŃ –WARSZAWA
In the morning we will continue our trip and travel to Toruń, which is one of the oldest cities in Poland. The first settlement dates back to the 8th century. It is the birthplace of the astronomer Nicolaus Copernicus, who “stopped the Sun and moved the Earth”. Toruń is considered to be one of the most magnificent historic cities in Poland. The medieval part of the city was designated a UNESCO World Heritage site for its impressive 13th century Town Hall, superb churches and historic streets preserving Toruń’s past glory. A visit to the Copernicus Museum is included in your itinerary. You will also have a chance to taste traditional Toruń gingerbread. In the afternoon transfer to Warszawa by coach.

Intercity train with only 2h 20 minutes journey makes Cracow available for a one day trip from Warsaw. KRAKÓW – The Royal City. A city over one thousand years old, located in the upper course of the Vistula river, a city called ”little Rome” and the ”cradle of European Culture”. Kraków is rich in history, outstanding works of art and architecture. The city is the location of the Jagiellonian University (founded in 1364), the Royal Castle Wawel, with its mythical Cathedral and the largest and most beautiful town square in Europe. Kraków is a city complex unlike most others in Europe.

After arrival sightseeing tour will feature Wawel, the Royal Castle, home to three dynasties of Polish monarchs. Its stately halls and exquisite chambers are filled with priceless art, valuable period furniture, and rare ancient objects. The collection of monumental 16th century tapestries is peerless. We will also visit Wawel Cathedral, the site of the cult of St. Stanislaw and of St. Jadwiga, Queen of Poland. This is the place where Polish kings were crowned and buried. We then walk to the Old Town, with its restored Main Square of magnificent houses and palaces. We will stop at St. Mary’s Basilica to see the magnificent wooden altar by Wit Stwosz. In the middle of the square is Cloth Hall built before 1349, but renovated in the 16th century with many shopping stalls inside. Following the tour a lunch will be served at a local restaurant in the Old Town. Leave Warsaw to reach the nearby Żelazowa Wola, a village on the Utrata river and visit a charming old Polish manor, the birthplace of the famous composer F. Chopin. The house where Chopin was born is now a museum surrounded by a large garden. All the rooms have been restored to perfection and contain a collection of family portraits and other Chopin memorabilia including music manuscripts.
After lunch continue tour along charming villages and farms to Nieborów, a gorgeous Radziwiłł family residence, where we shall encounter Niobe – an antique sculpture.

Until the outbreak of World War II, Poland was an important Jewish cultural and spiritual centre. Warsaw’s Jewish population was then about 400.000, which was almost one third of the city’s total, and the largest Jewish population after New York. The vast majority of this strong Jewish community perished during the Holocaust. However, traces of the original Jewish community remain. The tour includes: Jewish Cemetery, Nozyk Synagogue, Jewish Historical Institute, sites connected with the Ghetto Uprising of 1943, the Memorial of the Heroes of the Warsaw Ghetto, the Judenrat Building, Anielewicz’s Bunker and the Umschlagplatz.

Begin with the Royal Castle – the early Baroque, five wing building with a courtyard and clock tower. For many centuries it housed both the Royal Court and the Government.

Wilanów – The Polish Versailles. It is a wonderful baroque palace and a place of great beauty, both inside and outside. One will have the opportunity to stroll through the beautiful garden and park. Villa Nova was established in XVII and served as the royal summer residence of King Jan III Sobieski, the famous conqueror of the Turks at the battle of Vienna in 1683. He was the most colorful person of the 17th Century Poland, a skillful army leader, accomplished diplomat and author of beautiful love letters written to Marie Cassimere, his wife.

After lunch visit to Palace on the Isle – the magnificent palace and garden complex – a private retreat of Poland’s last king at the end of the 18th century.

DAY 2: KRAKÓW – AUSCHWITZ In the morning we leave for the Auschwitz-Birkenau Memorial and Museum – the German extermination camp operated by Nazi Germany in occupied Poland. Auschwitz was the largest Nazi Germany concentration complex during World War II and the largest Nazi ‘death factory’. The museum is devoted to the memory of Auschwitz’s prisoners and the victims of the Shoah. In the afternoon, we will travel back to Kraków. Lunch will be provided en route. Upon arrival to Krakow visit Kazimierz – the former Jewish quarter of Krakow – a cultural and spiritual. Dinner and overnight in Krakow.

DAY 3: KRAKÓW – WIELICZKA In the morning we will travel to Wieliczka – one of the oldest salt mines in the world. Wieliczka is an impressive underground world of salt lakes, labyrinthine passageways, chambers, chapels and numerous statues carved over 700 years ago by miners out of the rock salt. We will see displays of historic salt-mining technology and visit the unique Salt Works Museum, with the sculptures by contemporary artists. End of the tour.
